Environmental Alert is currently implementing a project titled “Community Empowerment for Improved Food Security and Income” in the West Nile districts of Moyo, Yumbe and Adjumani with funding from Bread for the World (BfdW). EA’s focus is to address challenges of low agricultural productivity, high levels of food security and low income in both rural and urban poor communities in addition to protecting against rapid degradation of natural resources on which community livelihood depends.
To ensure the project effectively reaches the communities and small-scale farmers, EA works through farmer groups, faith based organizations and schools in implementing the project. In implementation, EA applies different strategies including partnerships, community owned structures, incentive systems, knowledge management systems and documentation and information dissemination through radio for strengthening awareness among wider stakeholders on adaptation actions for climate change impacts on food security and natural resources in the region.
