Environmental Alert’s Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Promotion Program promotes healthy, dignified, and resilient communities by improving access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and sustainable hygiene practices in schools, health centres, and communities.
In many settings, schools and health centres often depend on temporary or overcrowded latrines, while limited access to clean water and privacy disproportionately affects girls, women, and other vulnerable groups. The WASH Program responds to these challenges through practical, inclusive, and community-driven solutions.
1. Growing Change in Schools: Promoting hygiene education, environmental stewardship, and supporting student-led health clubs to champion handwashing, sanitation, menstrual hygiene management, and peer-to-peer learning.

2. Empowering Women through Hygiene and Livelihoods: Linking improved hygiene practices with income-generating opportunities to enhance women’s economic empowerment and household resilience by engaging in Reusable Pads and Liquid Soap Making.
3. Building Skills for Clean and Safe Health Facilities: Strengthening facility-level capacity to maintain cleanliness, infection prevention, and safe sanitation systems.

4. Through capacity building, behavior change communication, infrastructure support, and policy advocacy, Environmental Alert works with local governments, schools, health facilities, civil society, and community structures to deliver inclusive and sustainable WASH services.
