Environmental Alert’s Environment & Natural Resources Governance (ENRG) Program promotes transparent, accountable, and inclusive management of natural resources in Uganda. The program supports communities, particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups, in participating meaningfully in decision-making processes that affect land, forests, water, and other natural resources.

Our work concentrates on:

  1. Policy advocacy and legal reforms for improved ENR governance
  2. Citizen awareness and capacity building on rights, responsibilities, and environmental laws
  3. Strengthening CSO networks for collective action and accountability
  4. Promoting gender-responsive governance and social inclusion
  5. Monitoring and reporting forest, land, and wildlife crimes

Our efforts aim to:

  • Reduce illegal exploitation of natural resources
  • Enhance public participation in environmental governance
  • Foster collaboration and policy implementation
  • Contribute to sustainable development and climate action.

Through community dialogues, evidence-based advocacy, research, and partnerships with government, civil society, and the private sector, Environmental Alert promotes responsible use and management of natural resources while safeguarding ecosystems and livelihoods. We aim for a Uganda where natural resources are managed equitably, utilized sustainably, and conserved for the well-being of future generations.

Our Concentration Areas

Environmental Alert promotes fair and inclusive environmental policies. We collaborate with stakeholders to shape laws, enhance implementation, and ensure that communities sustainably benefit from natural resources.

We empower communities, especially youth & women with knowledge on environmental rights, responsibilities, climate adaptation. Through trainings & dialogues, citizens become active participants in environmental governance.

Environmental Alert supports coordination among civil society organizations to create a strong collective voice. By working together, CSOs can advocate for accountability, policy change, and better management of natural resources.

We promote governance that includes the voices of women, youth, and marginalized groups. This ensures that decisions around land, water, forests, and climate action are inclusive and equitable.

Supporting community-based surveillance, documentation, and reporting of illegal activities such as deforestation, land grabbing, and poaching to promote accountability and enforcement of environmental laws.
